Mount Nemrut, located in south-eastern Turkey, is famous for its ancient statues and the impressive burial mound of King Antiochus I of Commagene. The UNESCO World Heritage site offers an awe-inspiring experience, especially at sunrise or sunset when the statues are bathed in golden light. It’s a mystical and historical journey with panoramic views of the surrounding mountains.

Tour Itinerary
🔆 Day 1:
📍 Take a 1.5-hour scenic drive from Adıyaman Airport to the village of Karadut, which is close to Mount Nemrut. Arrive at the Hotel and check-in.
🍴 Lunch is at your own expense ⭐ Suggestion to enjoy it in Karadut, featuring local Turkish dishes like kebabs, lentil soup, and fresh salads.
🎫 We visit:
– Arsameia (Old Castle)
🚩 Visit the ancient ruins of Arsameia, the former capital of the Kingdom of Commagene, located en route to Mount Nemrut. Explore its relief carvings and underground passageways.
– Cendere Bridge
🚩 A 2nd-century Roman bridge located nearby that showcases impressive ancient engineering.
– Karakus Tumulus
🚩 A smaller burial mound with monumental pillars that was built for the royal family of Commagene.
– In the evening we will enjoy a sunset viewing.
🚩 We will drive up to Mount Nemrut (approx. 45 minutes) to witness the incredible sunset over the mountain. The statues of gods and kings, along with the royal tomb of Antiochus I, take on a mystical glow during this time. Some free time will be given to explore the West Terrace, where you’ll see the massive stone heads, and the East Terrace, where you can view the colossal statues of ancient deities.
🍴 Return to the hotel for an included traditional Turkish dinner. Enjoy grilled meats, stuffed vegetables (dolma), and local specialties like börek. Finish with baklava and Turkish tea.
⭐ End your day with free time where you can explore local markets.
🔆 Day 2:
🎫 We start with a early Morning, 4:00 AM wake for the Mount Nemrut sunrise experience. The sunrise over the Eastern Terrace is breathtaking, and it’s considered one of the top things to do in Turkey. Watch as the first light illuminates the ancient stone heads and brings the site to life. Explore the surrounding areas, walk around the royal tomb, and take in the panoramic views.
🍴 Return to your hotel for an included hearty Turkish breakfast; fresh bread, cheese, olives, tomatoes, cucumbers, eggs, honey, and tea.
📍 After breakfast we will drive to Adıyaman & visit Atatürk Dam
🎫 We visit:
– Atatürk Dam
🚩 On your way back to Adıyaman, stop by the Atatürk Dam, one of the largest dams in Turkey and a significant engineering marvel.
– Sightseeing in Adıyaman
🚩 Explore Adıyaman city centre, visit local markets for souvenirs or taste regional delicacies like künefe (a sweet cheese pastry).
🍴 Lunch is at your own expense ⭐ Suggestion to enjoy it in Adıyaman you can eat at a local restaurant, savouring traditional dishes such as Adıyaman kebabs or pide (Turkish flatbread with toppings).
✈ In the Afternoon you will be transferred to Adıyaman Airport for your flight back to Istanbul or Cappadocia, or continue your journey to the next destination.
